The report from the office of the General Secretary confirms EUSA's growth in all nine provinces. In the fourth quarter of 2019 the Northern Cape welcomed more than 400 new members, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 373.
Priorities for 2020 include:
- Supporting leaders targeted and victimised for exposing corruption in schools
- Securing organisational rights through the Labour Court, with highly-rated advocates funded by member contributions
- Intensifying the fight against GEMS — no EUSA leader will serve on the GEMS or GEPF boards
- Two SAPS members in every school for safety
- A 1:30 class ratio to end overcrowded classrooms
- Advertising PL1 vacancies to end the selling of teaching posts
