EUSA Sees The Planned Teaching Positions Cut As Treason
Education And Allied Workers Union of South Africa (EUSA), expresses grave concern regarding the recent announcements by the Departments of Education in various provinces, particularly the Western Cape, which has revealed plans to cut over 2,400 teaching positions due to budget reductions imposed by the National Treasury. This alarming trend signals a reckless disregard for the future of our children and the integrity of our education system.
Currently, many teachers are already overwhelmed, managing classrooms with over 80 learners each. If the departments proceed with their announced cuts, we could see one teacher forced to stand in front of more than 200 learners. This situation is untenable and will make it impossible to manage and teach effectively, thereby compromising the quality of education that our children deserve.
